There is a contract forestry crew scheduled to undertake pine tree pruning at Waitekohekohe Reserve from next week (15th May 2023) for up to 3 weeks.
As the trees are quite young, this is a “first prune” which involves pruning the lower branches – no heavy equipment or machinery is involved.
The park won't be closed but caution from users is advised. There will be advisory/warning signs placed in affected pruning areas and this may require some trails to be temporarily closed while pruning is underway. Prunings will be discarded into the adjacent undergrowth by the pruning crew, clear of any trail.
This work should not affect your enjoyment of the park!
